Complete Unit

The booster for the big Maasai area between Arusha, Morogoro and Dodoma is still in the construction stage.

We are grateful that 'North Elbian Mission' in Germany had ollected the money needed to build the transmitter.

See Financing the booster

We want to hoist the transmitter in a customised container to keep on site building activities at a minimum.

The transmitter will be located on the mountain, where you already find a telephone relay station.

Thanks God! The tranmitter and its solar power supply has arrived from Germany to Tanzania.

But it had been hard work to unload the 3 tons of solar equipment to reduce the weight of the container. Since a crane was not available for 2 days we had to unload even the container itself by hand. We connected it with a steel rope on a Landrover. While the lorry moved on slowley it slided on the barrels we filled with sand to make them strong enough to carry the weight.

Right now all the work is done on the container, except some painting work, and we are waiting for the transmitter to arrive.

Then we will connect everything and put the transmitter on air to test everything is working poperly

Our big problem is now to stay within the financial limits we set when writing the project, since everything got so much more expensive since that time. So we are grateful, someone donated the wood needed for the seperation wall inside.

Since we have got the frequency from the Tanzania Broadcast Cooperation already (102.9MHz) we want to hurry up to get the transmitter on air as quickly as possible.

More pictures as the transmitter takes its shape..
